Will a paint touch-up blend in, or does the whole wall need repainting?
A colour match is only one part of a touch-up. Older paint, a different sheen or roller texture, and light falling across the wall can make a repaired patch remain visible. A small scuff may suit a local touch-up, while an even finish may require painting the affected wall from corner to corner. That does not automatically mean repainting the whole room.
Send a close-up of the mark and a wider view of the wall in normal room lighting, plus the original paint tin or label if available. Say whether you want a small repair or a consistent finish across the wall. Agree on the patching, preparation and painted boundary before work starts, with ceilings, trims and adjoining walls listed separately where needed.
Decisions to make before agreeing the repair
Can you repair and paint the holes left by a TV bracket or old equipment in one visit?
We can discuss the wall or ceiling repair and painting as one scope, but one visit depends on the hole, the lining and the required drying stages. Small, sound screw holes may only need suitable filling and preparation; a larger opening or damaged board may need a supported replacement piece and a jointing system before paint.
For holes or chases left by electrical or plumbing work, confirm that the relevant trade is finished and no further access is required before we close them. We then establish the repair boundary, reinstate the lining and joints where needed, allow each stage to reach the required condition, sand and clean, prime the prepared area and apply the agreed finish. A quick-setting repair compound does not remove every drying or recoating interval.
The quote should distinguish hole repair from the painted boundary. Include board/backing or joint work where needed, filler, primer, supplied or matched paint, protection, dust clean-up and any return attendance. Send the number and approximate size of openings, a wide photograph of each affected wall/ceiling and the original paint label if available. Tell us whether the equipment is already removed and whether a consistent complete-wall finish or a local touch-up is expected. We confirm the likely stages before agreeing a completion arrangement.
Repair questions and useful guides
Understand the possible causes, repair choices and details to send before discussing the work with us.
Can a water-damaged ceiling be repaired, or does it need replacing?
A stain alone does not decide replacement. Address the water source, then assess whether the dry lining is sound or damaged sections need replacing before painting.
Why can I still see the repaired patch after painting?
A visible patch is not always a wrong paint colour. A ridge or hollow in the repair, unsealed absorbent filler and a different paint finish need different remedies. We establish which layer is showing before adding more paint, and check returning cracks or peeling separately so the finish is built on a sound surface.

Painting Touch-Ups & Refresh in Brisbane — common questions
Straight answers to the questions Brisbane homeowners ask most often before booking this job.
Do you do small paint touch-ups rather than full repaints?+
Yes — touch-ups on scuffed walls, patched areas, trims, doors and small feature walls are exactly the kind of small painting work we do.
Can you colour-match my existing wall paint?+
In most cases yes. Bring or photograph a paint tin or label if you have it, or a small sample area can be matched from a paint supplier.
Can you repair wall cracks, holes, ceilings and cornice before painting?+
Yes. We patch plasterboard holes and cracks, repair or replace damaged ceiling sections and replace damaged cornice before the agreed repainting. We also remove loose, peeling or blistered paint and prepare the surface. Recurring movement or a leak needs assessment so the finish is not applied over an unresolved cause.
Can you repair and repaint a water-damaged wall or ceiling?+
Yes. Once the water source has been addressed and the surface is suitable, the work can include damaged lining replacement, patching, stain preparation and repainting. The quote identifies whether the finish covers the repaired area, a full wall or the complete ceiling. Tell us about previous leaks and any ongoing moisture.
Do you paint exterior timber trims and doors?+
Yes. Mel One paints exterior timber such as door frames, window frames and trims, and also undertakes full exterior repaints and exterior wall repairs. Tell us the surfaces and extent of work so preparation, repairs and painting can be quoted together.
